“Limited in resources, but not in our convictions.”
Legend has it that UNC Pauper Players was originally to be called Gold Coin Productions, after founding members Angela Coin and Scott Gold. The name Pauper Players came about after Angela and Scott learned how little monetary support they would be receiving from UNC Student Government. Though faced with such hardship, the infant company managed to thrive, yielding our motto: “limited in resources, but not in our convictions.”
Almost 40 years later, not much has changed. While UNC Student Government provides some funds to cover a small portion of our operating expenses, UNC Pauper Players is responsible for funding the costs of productions, including costumes, props, set pieces, and most crucially, venue rental fees.
